Wikipedia closed down today to highlight SOPA/PIPA

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Today, Wikipedia is shut down to highlight the effects that might take place if SOPA/PIPA is enforced in the states. To put it short, it would strike a big blow to the free internet if these propositions got approved, and it's absolutely INSANE that these politicians are actually considering to approve them. How ever not surprising since these people are not the most internet friendly men.

These propositions have been the big discussion on the internet the last couple of months. The link site Reddit will also follow and shut down their site to highlight this issue. It's mainly the entertainment business that has been lobbying for these changes to take place to try and minimize the pirating that goes on, on the web. the effect would be that if i for example post a link (yes, link) to a pirated movie on a site like Reddit, Reddit would break the law, allowing the link the get uploaded. The would naturally be a disaster to the free web.
